SPACESHIP EARTH

"We travel together, passengers on a little spaceship, dependent upon its vulnerable reserves of air and soil, all committed for our safety to its security and peace; preserved from annihilation only by the care, the work, and, I will say, the love we give our fragile craft. We cannot maintain it half fortunate, half miserable, half confident, half despairing, half slave to the ancient enemies of man, half free in a liberation of resources undreamed of until this day. No craft, no crew can travel safely with such vast contradictions. On their resolution depends the survival of us all."

WHALE & DOLPHIN UPDATE: REAL GLOBAL THREATS, introducing HoMoMIMIC (Holistic Modeling of Marine Impacts from Military-Industrial Civilization)

[NOTE:  THIS POST IS IN PROGRESS]

ON THE BRINK RADIO #216:  CETACEAN UPDATE: REAL GLOBAL THREATS, introducing HoMoMIMIC

CETACEAN HOLOCAUST:  THE REAL GLOBAL THREATS
from "We Are Not Alone...Yet: How We Are Waging War on a True 'Extra-terrestrial Intelligence" by Jeff Phillips

http://tutunui-wananga.blogspot.co.nz/2012/08/we-are-not-aloneyet-how-we-are-waging.html
"We don’t know for sure, but ‘hunting’ of animals for food by indigenous peoples seems to have been the norm for as far back as we can see.  I’m not sure what the whales thought about being killed for foo even back then, but Inuit in search of meat didn’t have high-tech harpoon guns or whaling ships with sonar.  Hunting was a sacred act to indigenous folk who took only what they thought they needed.

Although historically we believe we have ‘always’ eaten meat (what IF Neandertals were herbivorous?), ‘civilized’ man could easily abandon whaling and all other ‘meat-driven’ atrocities; yet these continue to run out of control as an integral part of our industrial ‘doomsday machine’.  Despite the publicity, of all the threats to cetaceans, whaling is at the bottom of the list.

Side-effects from the global fishing industry (46), another meat enterprise, have been a long-standing affliction for cetaceans, for example, drift- and gill-nets, in which hundreds of thousands of dolphins die from drowning and end up as ‘by-catch’ annually. Trawling in all its forms is also a wide-spread hazard for marine life in general.

Our pollution of the global ocean (47) is incomprehensible.  Logically, the ocean is ‘sea-level‘ located ‘downhill’ from everywhere on land: all water and everything in it running off from terrestrial sources ends up in the sea.  Not only do all rivers empty into the ocean, ‘civilized’ man has been using the ocean as a sewer and waste disposal site for thousands of years.  The ocean is huge, essentially ‘terra nullius’ (48) as far as most human cultures are concerned, and it’s deep: substances or materials disposed of tend seem to dilute or just ‘disappear’.

With the advent of shipping and motorized boats, for civilian, commercial and military purposes, noise (49), collisions (50), and contamination (51) from fuel, lubricants and wastes became wide-spread hazards as well.  With the massive increase in all of these activities throughout the twentieth century and accelerating in the twenty-first, the global ocean is now saturated with a full spectrum of man-made noise that has raised the back-ground sound level by several dB.(52) The sea is also contaminated to varying degrees, ranging from huge ‘dead zones’ (53) where nothing can live, to areas that are relatively clean and undisrupted, with astronomical quantities of every industrial substance, compound, and chemical ever created, in particular, endocrine-disrupting POP’s , (54) huge islands or ‘gyres’ of plastic , (55), and synthetic radio-nuclides from the real ‘nuclear war’ that has been going on since 1945. (56)

The global ‘energy’ industry is a major threat to all cetaceans. ‘Civilized’ humanity is addicted to the ‘flesh and blood’ of the ‘body’ of Mother Earth, and is stopping at nothing to consume every last ounce of minerals and petroleum that exists.  Deep-sea mining and especially hydro-carbon exploration and extraction is growing exponentially in every part of the world.(57)  Accidental leaks and ‘spills’ add insult to injury and enhance the toxic saturation levels. (58)

Seismic and electromagnetic geo-physical exploration technologies are extremely dangerous weapons in our war on cetacea.  Hundreds of exploration vessels are in operation globally at any given time, each of which is equipped with an array of ‘air-guns’ that can emit under-water sonic explosions on the order of 30,000 joules per blast…enough to deafen or kill any cetaceans or other marine life within a radius of many kilometres. (59)

THANKS TO STRANDEDNOMORE

The frequency of accidents and disasters, as well as their damage-levels, have increased drastically in direct proportion to the scale and pervasiveness of industrial civilization as a whole.  Solid evidence exists that in recent years a new paradigm of ‘geo-terrorism’ has been instituted which is a new form of covert warfare disguised as ‘industrial accidents’, ‘natural disasters’, and ‘environmental engineering.’ (60)

Recent examples of deliberate ‘geo-terrorism’ are the BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico which began April 2010, and the Fukushima disaster which began in March 2011. Both these scenarios have clear ‘signatures’ of having been manufactured, and both are on-going processes, as opposed to events, which appear to have been strategically-premeditated acts of environmental warfare whose purpose is to poison the planetary biosphere via the ocean as efficiently as possible(61)

As if traditional and/or ‘conventional’ warfare and weapons haven’t been bad enough, for humans, cetaceans, and everyone else on Mothership Earth, today a ‘new generation’ of high-tech weapons systems has been deployed based on radio-frequency microwaves which allow ‘secret wars’ to be waged unknown to the affected populations.(62)

With the planetary metastasis of all-things-military since World War 2, going to the next level with the advent of the ‘war on terror’ since 9/11, and the presence of close to 4,000 U.S. bases and peripheral institutions around the world, the seas of Earth have become permanent ‘theatres of operation’, battle-fields, testing grounds, and waste-dumps particularly for the navies of the world.  The U.S. Navy is the mac-daddy of all military entities on the planet, and is alsoTHE single greatest threat to the well-being of all cetaceans globally(63)

Not only is the U.S. Navy the largest single military institution on Earth, it is also the single greatest ‘nuclear entity’, operating several hundred individual nuclear reactors for research, weapons, and propulsion of ships and submarines.  They have over-seen a large per-centage of all atmospheric atomic tests (including Project Argus, which permanently damaged the Van Allen radiation belts (64), and have innumerable and classified ‘super-fund’ sites around the world, of which the global ocean is the biggest.  They are more than likely ‘legally allowed’ to dispose of nuclear wastes from their reactors directly into the sea.  Even if this weren’t ‘legal’, who could stop them…or even find out?

The U.S. Navy has been the largest backer of research and development of the ‘new generation’ of microwave weapons since Reagan’s ‘Strategic Defense Initiative’, or ‘Star Wars’ in the 1980’s.  These technologies, of which HAARP is one example, are huge antenna arrays with transmitters that target the ionosphere with giga-watt levels of heat.  By means of super-computers and extensive research in geo-physical and atmospheric science, HAARP and other installations can function as an integrated weapons system which can conduct ‘environmental modification’, or ‘weather warfare’, ‘tectonic’ warfare involving man-made earth-quakes and vulcanism, and global ‘mind control’ operations which can neurologically debilitate entire human populations.  Our biosphere in general is saturated with microwaves from other sources as well.(65)

Ironically, by means of unlimited funding, the U.S. Navy has also come to control almost ALL marine biology research on the planet, enabling them not only to ‘weaponize’ every dimension of the ocean and its inhabitants, but also to manage and control not only ‘scientific information’ but also to manipulate ‘public perception’ of what is really going on.  Not only have they been engaged in enslaving, torturing and brain-washing cetaceans and other marine mammals for decades, to force them to function as ‘robots’, but their ‘scientific research’ has been shown to be deliberately and criminally fraudulent, in order to create the impression that nothing they do is harmful to anyone in any way. (66)

While the Navy has come to control marine biology as a whole, as well as the public's perception of their activities, genuine environmental research revealing the true nature and scale of military-industrial damage and public health threats is being systematically dismantled. (66a)

Of the full-spectrum of war on cetacea being conducted by the U.S. Navy, no form of attack or technology is more devastatingly and pervasively lethal as their mid- and low-frequency sonar systems.  Sonar, which was inspired by cetaceans, and originally used only low levels of under-water sound to perform ‘echo-location’ for detection of ‘foreign objects’, has now been turned against them.

In July of 2000 I first learned of SURTASS, or LFAS, ‘Surveillance Under-water Towed Array Sonar Systems’ or ‘Low Frequency Active Sonar.’  These systems were being deployed on naval vessels around the world and were instantly recognized as major threats to cetaceans.  Having been a lover of cetaceans for decades, this put me on full ‘red-alert’, as I knew that something horrific was up in the world.  This was during that window of time when Bush 2 had been installed as president, which equalled ‘war’, but before 9/11, which came as no surprise to me after learning about LFAS.

These ‘surveillance’ systems use technology almost identical to that of seismic testing:  huge under-water transducers that emit powerful explosions of sonic energy, which travel much faster and more intensely in water than in air.  LFA-sonar is known to create ‘a kill-zone the size of Texas’.  These shock-waves of sound pressure energy literally explode the inner ears of cetaceans, cause hemorrhaging, rupturing of internal organs, and mass-death. (67)

Because of the extreme power-levels of seismic and LFA-sonar technologies, which are ostensibly about ‘detection’ or ‘listening’, it’s become clear to me that these may be being used as active weapons systems.  Against whom?  Anyone who lives in the ocean.

In recent years innumerable and anomalous strandings of cetaceans, and ‘die-offs’ of many species of land and marine life-forms have occurred.  These invariably correlate with the presence of military exercises and/or seismic testing activities.  Tremendous effort goes into distancing the Navy and ‘big oil’ from any causality or accountability, as their legion of well-trained ‘scientists’ and compliant media distracts us with reports of ‘mystery illnesses’ and other fabrications. (68)

Almost no ‘environmental organizations’ dare to criticize or even mention ‘big oil’, for fear of financial retaliation; one wonders who in fact are the biggest donors to Paul Watson and Louis Psihoyos?  Fewer still dare to criticize or mention the ‘N’ word, the U.S. Navy, as being anything more than ‘stewards’ of the global ocean. (68a)

Their greatest role as ‘steward’ of the ocean is their ‘request’ for a permit from the NMFS(National Marine Fisheries Service), a branch of NOAA, which they are known to ‘own’, to ‘take’ approximately 11.5 MILLION marine mammals over the next five years as part of their expanding war-games/testing/global presence strategy.  ‘Take’ is Naval euphemism for ‘kill’.  Hats off to Rosalind Peterson for having the balls to tell the world about this true cetacean holocaust in progress. (69)
In summation, the cetaceans are under direct attack from human activity in a number of ways.  These are physical (nets, collisions, whaling); psychological (being ‘studied’, held captive, experimented on); acoustic (noise, blasts, sonar, ASW); toxicity(chemical and radio-nuclear); and electromagnetic (HAARP and ATOC-related experiments/technologies)(70).

It’s almost impossible fully to comprehend the damage that is being done to the global ocean and to the cetaceans who are the real ‘stewards’ of the sea.  On top of all the on-going waste and chemical pollution pouring in for decades, massive quantities of atmospherically-disseminated chem-trail residues(71) are making their way into the sea.  Scientists pretending to battle ‘climate change’ want to dump massive amounts ofiron filings into the sea. (72) Crude petroleum continues to gush from the Macondo well in the Gulf of Mexico, and the Corexit continues to create illness in human and marine life. (73)

The ‘icing on the cake’ is the incomprehensible quantity of synthetic radio-nuclides pouring directly into the Pacific ocean from Fukushima, on top of what has already been deposited as fall-out from over 2000 atmospheric detonations, perhaps hundreds of thousands of drums of nuclear waste, and DU (‘depleted uranium’) deployed in all recent ‘wars’ and ‘conflicts’.  That a huge part of the global ocean could become one huge ‘dead zone’ is not impossible in our life-times; what is happening…what WE are doing…is beyond catastrophic for life as we know her, including the cetaceans. (74)

Individual cetaceans may be hunted or ‘whaled’ but whole populations are systemically endangered by the systemic poisoning of entire regions and the
proliferation of new and dangerous technologies which can maim or kill tens of thousands of marine mammals with a single explosion.

Who is to blame for all this?  WE are."

68a) The NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), a huge multi-million $ 'environmental ngo' does acknowledge the occasional threat to cetaceans posed by seismic testing or naval sonar; for decades they've been taking the public's money and 'wrist-slapping' the Navy and 'big oil'...but have they stopped or even slowed seismic exploration or naval destruction?  NO.  Dr. Roger Payne, one of the original 'save the whales' researchers, not only HAS NEVER MENTIONED the Navy or oil companies as threats to cetaceans, neither has he ever mentioned radio-nuclide contamination as a major threat.  What he and NRDC DO talk a lot about is 'global warming' and 'climate change' as being THE biggest threats to life on Earth.  Informed minds know that 'global warming' is a total hoax promulgated as a cover for global 'ENMOD', or clandestine weather-warfare, being waged primarily by...guess who...the U.S. NAVY using HAARP.

1) FAKE SCIENCE

“The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue.” Dr. Richard Horton, the current Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet

'Climate' science is most particularly riddled with bogosity, the U.S. Navy controls as much as 75% of all marine biology research, the pharmaceutical industry owns medical research, and the powers that be have almost succeeded in wiping awareness of the global nuclear scenario from the face of the public mind.

It's not just about money. A quote from Albert Einstein says it all:
"The scientist of today is distressed by the fact that the results of his scientific work have created a threat to mankind since they have fallen into the hands of morally blind exponents of political power. He is conscious of the fact that technological methods, made possible by his work, have led to a concentration of economic and also of political power in the hands of small minorities which have come to dominate completely the lives of the masses of people, who appear more and more amorphous. But even worse: the concentration of economic and political power has not only made the man of science dependent economically, it also threatens his independence from within; the shrewd methods of intellectual and psychic influences which it brings to bear will prevent the development of independent personalities."
Albert Einstein, Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, 1952

What we need is to study and conduct science scientifically, and make knowledge the handmaiden of critical thinking, not a mistress of belief based on authority figures and the manufacture of consent.

2) ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ROBOTICS

AI TO BE USED IN WHALE STRANDINGS

"Just when we thought it could not get any worse....rescues now are going to use AI (artificial intelligence) to make decisions during mass stranding events. Like seriously, WHAT?? Here is some advice that will save them some time, money and computing power: every life matter, always try to save 100 %, if not, evaluate what went wrong, make changes, try again. Seriously, AI for strandings...Apart from being absolutely idiotic, it is actually very worrisome. Already AI in some shape or form makes some decisions whether or not to give you a loan, next step will probably be insurance rates, and after that whether or not you should be treated medically, because your probabilities are not that good. Once you take away ethics, compassion and humanity out of decision making process, you literally open one nasty Pandora's box."

Computare in Latin means 'to think or reflect upon.' So-called 'computers' do nothing of the sort, they are actually dinucruds or 'digital number-crunching devices.'

Dinucruds and electricity are the foundations of megatechnology; without computers and alternating current none of our most lethal enterprises would be possible.

3) MILITARIZATION

“I believe America may totally succumb to the fearful militarisation which engulfed Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. There is real danger that political power and the power to influence the minds of people will pass increasingly into the hands of the military, which is used to approaching all political problems from the point of view of military expediency. Because of America's supremacy, the military point of view is forced upon the world.'

ALBERT EINSTEIN

'THE COMING WAR WITH CHINA' JOHN PILGER

"The greatest build-up of American-led military forces since the Second World War is well under way. They are on the western borders of Russia, and in Asia and the Pacific, confronting China.

The great danger this beckons is not news, or it is news buried and distorted: a drumbeat of propaganda that echoes the psychopathic campaign embedded in public consciousness during much of the 20th century.
Like the renewal of post-Soviet Russia, the rise of China as an economic power is declared an ‘existential threat’ to the divine right of the United States to rule and dominate human affairs.
To counter this, in 2011 President Obama announced a ‘pivot to Asia’, which meant that almost two-thirds of US naval forces would be transferred to Asia and the Pacific by 2020.
Today, more than 400 American military bases encircle China with missiles, bombers, warships and, above all, nuclear weapons. From Australia north through the Pacific to Japan, Korea and across Eurasia to Afghanistan and India, the bases form, says one US strategist, ‘the perfect noose’.
A study by the RAND Corporation – which, since Vietnam, has planned America’s wars – is entitled War with China: Thinking Through the Unthinkable. Commissioned by the US Army, the authors evoke the Cold War when RAND made notorious the catch cry of its chief strategist, Herman Kahn – ‘thinking the unthinkable’. Kahn’s book, On Thermonuclear War, elaborated a plan for a ‘winnable’ nuclear war against the Soviet Union.
Today, his apocalyptic view is shared by those holding real power in the US: the Pentagon militarists and their neoconservative collaborators in the executive, intelligence agencies and Congress. The current Secretary of Defense, Ashley Carter, a verbose provocateur, says US policy is to confront those ‘who see America’s dominance and want to take that away from us’."
"Professor Ted Postol was scientific adviser to the head of US naval operations. An authority on nuclear weapons, he told me, ‘Everybody here wants to look like they’re tough. See, I got to be tough… I’m not afraid of doing anything military, I’m not afraid of threatening; I’m a hairy-chested gorilla. And we have gotten into a state, the United States has gotten into a situation where there’s a lot of sabre-rattling, and it’s really being orchestrated from the top.’
"Andrew Krepinevich is a former Pentagon war planner and the influential author of war games against China. He wants to ‘punish’ China for extending its defences to the South China Sea. He advocates seeding the ocean with sea mines, sending in US special forces and enforcing a naval blockade. He told me, ‘Our first president, George Washington, said if you want peace, prepare for war.’
In 2015, in high secrecy, the US staged its biggest single military exercise since the Cold War. This was Talisman Sabre; an armada of ships and long-range bombers rehearsed an ‘Air-Sea Battle Concept for China’ – ASB – blocking sea lanes in the Straits of Malacca and cutting off China’s access to oil, gas and other raw materials from the Middle East and Africa."

'THE MILITARIZED OCEAN'

“In order to appreciate the future of undersea warfare, it is necessary to understand some aspects of the current state of the oceanographic sciences and their development. In no other field of warfare does the environment enter in so complex a way to fashion and fix the character of the operations.  The classical example is that of BIOLOGICAL INTERFERENCE. In the air and on the ground the intervention of an animal or plant in military operations is rare and noteworthy. In the sea, freedom from such interference – by organisms that reflect sonar, for example – would be extraordinary.”

Admiral William Nierenberg, ‘Militarized Oceans’, chapter from Unless Peace Comes, ed. Nigel Calder, 1968

Greetings from Yunbenun, Dream-time, Mother Earth. I recorded this radio broadcast on the beach and in the ocean at Rocky Bay here on Magnetic Island Qld. This posting is not the long-overdue comprehensive article on the health and life of Mother Ocean that is in progress, but to honour several 'kaitiakis moana' ('kaitiaki' means 'guardian' in Maori, and 'moana' is the Maori as well as Hawai'ian word for ocean) who have done and/or are doing some of the highest quality and most relevant work on behalf of life in and of the ocean.

Many thanks to my wonderful friend, talented musician and writer Jaiia Earthschild of Hobart, Tasmania, for letting me borrow her sweet little video camera for the last few months. Bless you my friend and I look forward to hearing your new song dedicated to the Great Barrier Reef.

GREAT BARRIER REEF

Where I am now is right on the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest reef system, home to myriad life-forms and under attack from a full-spectrum assault of human activities, in particular, microwave radiation from growing undersea warfare operations moving from the northern hemisphere to the EEZ's of Australia and New Zealand; electromagnetic radiation from ship hulls electrified to prevent corrosion that causes shipping lanes to become charged conduits; vast chemical toxicity from agricultural run-off; and the spectrum of problems associated with the massive coal export industry based in this area, in particular, the highly controversial Adani coal mine project in the Galilee basin which, if constructed, will be the largest ore loading facility on the planet.

ABBOTT POINT QUEENSLAND

Another big threat to Mother Ocean scheduled to rear its head this year is the world's first deep sea-bed mining project, set to take place in Papua New Guinea. It's ironic that the United Nations is making such a stir about protecting the ocean while at the same time their International Seabed Authority has handed out thousands of permits for digging out minerals from all over the world's ocean floors. To imagine how vast and how destructive this is, visualize an entire new mining industry that will dwarf that which exists already, all underwater and largely performed by automated drone technology, the original patents for which are owned by Lockheed.

DEEP SEABED MINING SET TO BEGIN

DEEP SEA-BED MINING CLAIMS

DEEP SEA BED MINING TERMINATOR

THOMAS GOLD

American astronomer at Cornell University, gave Carl Sagan his first job. A brilliant mind who addressed complex problems in a variety of scientific disciplines, over-turning many apple-carts but coming up with almost exclusively accurate analyses. Of great interest is his book 'The Deep Hot Biosphere' about subterranean microbial life and their relationship with surface and benthic life-forms, as well as their relation to hydro-carbons, which he deems to be abiogenic.

DR. ROGER PAYNE

Co-founder of Ocean Alliance and along with fellow researcher and musician Scott MacVay, the first humans to describe humpback whale sound as 'songs', a huge stride towards our understanding of them as fellow beings. Has published many books and worked tirelessly for health of Mother Ocean.

DR. IAIN KERR

Co-founder of Ocean Alliance and owner/skipper of the Odyssey, OA's research yacht, whose biggest accomplishments include the completion of a five-year survey of global ocean toxicity (2005-2010) and two studies of the Gulf of Mexico in the wake of the BP Macondo disaster. Currently heading up 'snot-bot' research using drones to collect mucous from whale exhalations to be analyzed for hormone properties to determine stress levels in response to seismic testing and other anthropogenic intrusions.

Legendary oceanographic researcher and educational activist. Founder of Mission Blue but best known to me for her brilliant article on why she is a vegetarian and has been for decades, and why we should not be eating anything that comes from the ocean.

"...you know people say 'I'm a vegetarian, I just eat fish, no meat.' And I can see the fish being really offended: 'What do you mean. I'm a piece of meat! I have muscle, I have a heart, I have a brain.' We have this attitude of fish as somehow just commodities."

WALLY and TRISH FRANKLIN

A highly dedicated couple who have been working with and on behalf of eastern Australian humpbacks for many decades. Founders of the Oceania Project. They both became Ph.D.'s recently.

JACQUES COUSTEAU

He is probably the mac daddy of all modern-day oceanographers. His decades of films and television shows showed the beauty and wonders of Mother Ocean to countless people spanning several generations. He was the co-inventor of the SCUBA system for breathing underwater. His ship Calypso sailed the seven seas in search of all things wet and beautiful. Musician John Denver wrote a song and made a lovely video in her honour.

'AYE CALYPSO' by JOHN DENVER

SIR PETER BLAKE

New Zealand America's cup winning yacht skipper who went on to dedicate his life to studying and remedying ecological devastation around the world. He was killed by 'hooded river pirates' while engaged in a sting operation with a Greenpeace vessel in the mouth of the Amazon, to try to catch the people illegally logging mahogany in that area. He had bought a specially designed research boat designed and built for Jacques Cousteau that had a retractable keel so that it could navigate shallow waters. Definitely NOT a 'reality-tv' kind of guy. I think he would scoff at much of what passes for 'ocean activism' these days.

STRANDED NO MORE

A coalition of marine biologists currently based in Hawai'i, SNM is tops when it comes to reporting on cetacean reality, in particular, stranding events as they unfold globally and correlating them with the proximity of anthropogenic influences like seismic testing, military 'war games' or hazardous operations, rocket launches, weapons testing, you name it. They also cover the full spectrum failure of the western cetacean rescue operations in general. They produce a wealth of fantastic information including high resolution graphics that convey the stories at hand. Their web-site is currently under re-development but will hopefully be back on-line soon.

DOUGLAS 'DOLPHINUS' WEBSTER

I'd like to thank Dolphinus for being such a fantastic person, lover of cetaceans and supporter of my work. He has hosted my web-site on his for almost a decade now. He works with Joan Ocean in Hawai'i and takes people out to swim with dolphins and be close to humpback whales regularly. Lately they have been battling the bureaucracy who wanted to terminate their dolphin swimming, but have so far been unsuccessful. GO DOLPHINUS :)

GLENN EDNEY

Glenn is a wonderful kiwi who I met last year. He and his wife Janey have published a great book entitled 'The Ocean is Alive' and are currently working on the problem of plastic pollution in the ocean, as well as various community educational projects. Glenn is an avid diver and under-water photographer as well, and has a profound empathy with all things and beings aquatic.

TERRY 'MR. LIMPETT' LILLEY and STEWART 'THE EFFECT' SIMONSON

MR. LIMPETT

BLEACHED SEA TURTLES

Terry Lilley might quality as the best 'kaitiaki moana' I know of in the world of today. He is a marine biologist, educator, activist and under-water photographer with more hours of underwater video than any other civilian person. Based in Kauai, Hawai'i, he has been documenting the sea-life there for decades and in recent years the immense damage wrought on the coral reefs by the U.S. military's PMRF (Pacific Missile Range Facility) on the north shore, whose microwave emanations destroyed much of the reefs in that area. He has worked closely with Atlanta-based chemical engineer and fellow diver Stewart 'The Effect' Simonson, who has been researching the damage done to marine life by electromagnetic emanations coming from cathodic protection systems that electrify the hulls of all larger vessels. Terry and Stewart are perhaps the only 'kaitiakis moana' I know other than myself who are willing and able to confront the exponential lethality of the military-industrial juggernaut tentacle to tentacle.

RACHEL CARSON

My very favourite human being of all time and the kaitiakiest of 'kaitiakis moana', Rachel Carson was a uniquely talented woman, lover of life, nature and the sea, as well as insightful scientist and author of exquisite literally ability as well as having a profound empathy with life in the sea. Her first three books were dedicated to the ocean and her life (Under the Sea Wind, The Sea Around Us, and The Edge of the Sea). Her fourth book, Silent Spring, catapulted her into international limelight conveying an urgent message not only about chemical toxicity but also about the grave dangers of humanity's careless and destructive deployment of ever more lethal technologies.

EXCELLENT DOCUMENTARY ON RACHEL CARSON,
HER LIFE AND WORK

NOTES ON RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINATION OF GLOBAL OCEAN

This is a very hot topic that has been swept under the plutonium-soaked rug for many years, a very real and perhaps the GREATEST SINGLE THREAT to life as we know her, eclipsed on the public radar by concocted bogeys like 'climate change' and the 'war on terrorism.'

Only embedded and inter-generational scientific ignorance coupled with a predilection for the irrelevant bordering on psychopathology have allowed the onslaught of global radiological contamination to continue with practically zero attention from the average person. This is one of the greatest ironies and contradictions of being here now on Mother Earth.

In the wake of Fukushima, global radiation contamination continues...not continued... to sky-rocket far beyond comprehensible levels. U.S. Navy/mainstream 'science' minions like Woods Hole researcher Dr. Ken Buessler assure us that any ionizing radiation present in the ocean is at 'safe levels.' But this is a total lie.

"Yes, it's there but it's SAFE."

The REAL STORY of the health effects of ionizing radiation is told by real life-loving scientists/researchers like the late Dr. Rosalie Bertell:
DR. ROSALIE BERTELL

"There is no safe level of exposure to ionizing radiation, and the search for quantifying such a safe level is in vain."

OUR MUTAGENIC FUTURE

TO SUM UP: Mother Ocean is home to the vast majority of life on Mother Earth yet is under an exponentially growing full spectrum attack by 'man, the wise' with his military-industrial juggernauts, out of control technologies, off the rail behavioural patterns, and the species megalomania that allows him to refer to Mother Ocean as 'OUR ocean' or Mother Earth as 'OUR planet.' We hope and dream that beings of the sea may someday 'talk' to us while totally failing to LISTEN to their often silent voices sharing what they think and feel and their unique perspectives on being here now, perspectives and 'cosmologies', if unwritten, equally if not more valid than anything on which we congratulate ourselves. Many lovely people care immensely, but the irony is that our quests to 'save' this and 'conserve' are often leading to even more intrusion and destruction.

Where DO we go from here? Outer space? I don't think so...

Why can't we just step back from the brink, ask ourselves not what Mothers Ocean and Earth can do for us, but what we can do or stop going on their behalf?  Why can't we just learn to

LIVE SIMPLY SO THAT OTHERS MAY SIMPLY LIVE?
